Vinoselección once again focuses on one of the most important wine groups in Spain with a notable international presence: Viñas Familia Gil. Pioneering in the nineties in the production of quality wines from Jumilla, the Gil family has been working for several generations on the best vineyards of the native monastrell, gathering a spectacular heritage of old vineyards.
Although the two Jumilla wineries - Bodegas Juan Gil and El Nido - of the Viñas Familia Gil group act as the flagship of the society, this firm extends its reach to different national production areas. Can Blau, Ateca, Shaya, Lagar de Condesa, Morca, Llicorella Vins, Atalaya, Tridente, and Rosario Vera are the wineries that govern in different national production areas.
We have turned to the latter, Bodegas Rosario Vera, to bring you a project that serves as a tribute to the pioneer of the Gil saga, the grandmother of the current owners. A firm that dates back to 2016 and is nourished by 19 hectares of its own vineyards, mainly of the tempranillo variety, aged between 15 and 60 years. From the selection of the best clusters cultivated around Laguardia comes the top wine of Bodegas Rosario Vera, the red Biloba de Vera Parcelas Seleccionadas 2021. A wine destined for the elite of Rioja wines, with 15 months of thoughtful aging in French oak barrels.
It displays a very well-covered cherry red color to the eye.
In its excellent olfactory phase, it presents itself as complex and elegant, highlighting aromas of black fruits (blueberries), notes of licorice, cocoa, and English chocolate along with pleasant hints of scrubland and spicy touches; all on a background of fine woods.
On the palate, it shows volume, is broad, flavorful, enveloping, and with great balance. The passage is velvety, fresh, and vibrant; and its finish concludes with great length.
