In 2023, Beronia will celebrate its golden anniversary, having become one of the most well-known and recognized wineries both in Spain and beyond our borders. The brand was founded in 1973 by a group of hedonists who formed a gastronomic society and is now part of the prestigious winery group González Byass.
Recently inaugurated, the new winemaking facility of Bodegas Beronia is synonymous with maximum sustainability. The most relevant international environmental certifications endorse this functional construction, which uses renewable energy sources such as aerothermal, photovoltaic, and solar thermal to ensure the best possible indoor environmental quality in the winery.
From its most select line, composed of limited-production single-varietal wines, comes the Reserva we now propose to you, Beronia Mazuelo Reserva 2018, one of the pioneering and rare wines made exclusively with the mazuelo variety in the D.O.Ca. Rioja.
It displays a medium-layer cherry red color, bright to the eye.
On the nose, it expresses complexity and richness in nuances, boasting good intensity. A red wine where aromas of ripe and seasoned fruit can be appreciated, along with spicy and balsamic sensations.
On the palate, it shows itself as very well balanced, mature, flavorful, with a smooth and fluid mouthfeel. A wine that presents marked acidity, providing freshness and a long, persistent finish.
Founded in 1973 by a group of hedonists who formed a gastronomic society, Bodegas Beronia has belonged to the González Byass Group since 1982. A winery with a philosophy based on combining the best of tradition and modernity. Surrounding the facilities, Beronia has its main asset: 25 hectares of its own vineyard, complemented by an additional 870 hectares of controlled vineyards that extend within a 10 km radius, with an average age of 30 years. A magnificent and abundant viticultural heritage that allows it to have quality raw materials every vintage. Significant investment in R&D, respect for the environment, and the continuous renewal of the barrel park are other key characteristics.
Beronia produces different ranges: the Classic Range, consisting of a white, a rosé, and the red wines Crianza, Reserva, and Gran Reserva; the Varietal Range, which includes the only Reserva from Rioja made with mazuelo; the Premium Range, featuring Beronia Selección 198 Barricas, Beronia III a.C., Beronia Viñas Viejas, Crianza Edición Limitada, and the rosé Alegra; and an organic wine. Additionally, Beronia has extended its reach to the D.O. Rueda, where they produce a verdejo white wine and have 65 hectares of their own vineyards.
