Azpilicueta Origen Crianza 2021 is a Rioja red wine designed for those seeking a wine with character, but still easy to enjoy at the table. It is made from Tempranillo grapes and spends 18 months ageing in French oak barrels, with a small contribution of American oak, a combination that enhances its personality without losing freshness.
The grapes originate from Fuenmayor, in the area that Félix Azpilicueta chose in 1881 to establish his winery. This origin is no coincidence: the harvest brings together different plots such as San Cristóbal, La Tahola and Los Cabezos, which provide balance, structure and a solid fruit base. It is a wine that pairs very well with cured meats, rice dishes, vegetables, mushrooms and meats, both white and red.
Bodegas Azpilicueta produces this wine with a focus deeply connected to its origin and craftsmanship. Elena Adell, the winery's enologist, aimed to recover in this wine the essence of that first moment: land, vineyard, climate, people and skill — everything that continues to give meaning to the brand today.
Pairing
Azpilicueta Origen Crianza 2021 pairs very well with Iberian cured meats, roast lamb, veal cheeks, and grilled fillet steak. It also complementarily accompanies meat-based rice dishes, sautéed mushrooms, and roasted vegetables, because its balance and long finish support flavourful dishes without losing freshness.
