General Information

Arbocala Reserva 2017 belongs to a vintage classified as Excellent in the D.O. Toro. It’s a single-varietal of Tinta de Toro, the star variety of the area. The grapes were fermented in stainless steel vats. Eighteen months in American and French oak barrels have infused it with aromas of vanilla, brioche and toast together with notes of ripe black fruit. Slightly sweet on the attack, medium-bodied, long on mid-palate and a lingering finish.

Palacio de Villachica is a winegrowing firm established in 2017 which reflects the passion, tradition and excellence of some of Spain’s most prestigious wine regions: Ribera del Duero, Rioja and Toro.

Arbocala Reserva 2017 (D.O. Toro) is ideal with pork fillet with a reduction of forest fruits or a nice piece of grilled steak.

The winery

Palacio de Villachica

The Palacio de Villachica project was born in the minds of three friends a long time ago, but the dream became a reality in 2017. They wanted to find the true expression of the best Tempranillos in the world and decided that Ribera del Duero was the ideal place. After years of research on the different ‘terroirs’ and the possibilities of the appellation, they built a small winery in Peñafiel with a maximum capacity of 150,000 kg, designed to produce wine under the best conditions of care and control.

The vineyards are a carefully selected puzzle of tiny old vineyards, farmed organically and spread across five small villages in the highest areas of the appellation, totaling 42 hectares of their own vines. They also manage another 23 hectares of controlled vineyards. The winemaking team focuses on extracting the best from each terroir and creating ‘coupages’ that reflect the complexity of Ribera del Duero.

Palacio de Villachica produces two wines in Ribera del Duero: Palacio de Villachica Crianza and VS Dehesa de Don Diego, both awarded gold medals at the Zarcillo Awards 2023. Additionally, this winery produces wines in the Rioja and Toro regions.
