Amaya Arzuaga 2020 is a red wine made from Tempranillo and Albillo Mayor grapes from century-old vineyards located in the heart of Ribera del Duero that predate the phylloxera epidemic. Vines planted at high altitudes in sandstone and alluvial as well as limestone soils infused this sensual, distinguished red from Bodegas Arzuaga’s range with their qualities.

General Information

Amaya Arzuaga 2020 is a balanced, elegant red that combines a superb aromatic complexity with a fresh attack, good acidity and a flavourful and mouth-coating palate. The Tempranillo and Albillo Mayor grapes were harvested by hand and transported in 15-kg crates to the winery, where the bunches were sorted and vatted with their stalks. After light daily pressing, they underwent traditional alcoholic fermentation and 21 days later the resulting wine was transferred to 28 new barrels made of French oak from different forests to enhance its aromatic complexity.

The famous fashion designer Amaya Arzuaga, the daughter of Florentino Arzuaga (the owner of Bodegas Arzuaga Navarro), added her creative touch by designing the label of this enticing wine that’s notable for its elegance.

With a limited production of 5,388 bottles, Amaya Arzuaga 2020 is a red from the D.O. Ribero del Duero that goes with lots of dishes as it’s so versatile. Try it with meat, fish, stews, all kinds of rice dishes and char-grilled vegetables.

The winery

Bodegas Arzuaga Navarro

Bodegas Arzuaga Navarro is one of the quality benchmarks of Ribera del Duero and one of the great wineries of our country. It produces modern wines with a fruit-forward expression, powerful yet elegant and balanced, and with a marked character of what a great Tempranillo from Ribera del Duero has to offer.

The brilliant journey of Bodegas Arzuaga Navarro began in the early nineties thanks to the determination of Florentino Arzuaga, a hospitality entrepreneur who sought to establish a cutting-edge winery project on the banks of the Duero. To achieve this, he chose one of the most privileged areas of this production zone, which was then in full expansion: the municipality of Quintanilla de Onésimo (Valladolid), in the area known as the “golden mile” of Ribera del Duero, where illustrious names such as Vega Sicilia and Finca Villacreces are located.

The winery's first vineyard was planted in the early nineties at Finca La Planta, a 1400-hectare estate located a few kilometers from the facilities, at an altitude of over 900 meters on clay-limestone soil, giving it very particular characteristics. Finca La Planta today hosts 70 hectares of vineyards.

In addition to La Planta, Bodegas Arzuaga Navarro owns other estates in the municipalities of Quintanilla de Onésimo and on the plateau of Olivares de Duero, and continues to undertake new plantations, all organically farmed.

Furthermore, Bodegas Arzuaga Navarro has become one of the main wine tourism destinations in Ribera del Duero: it features a hotel, spa, and restaurant, as well as offering visits to Finca La Planta, where deer and wild boar can be spotted.
