Alvear Pedro Ximénez 1927 is a wine made from sun-dried grapes - hence its high sugar content - aged for five years in American oak barrels using the traditional criaderas and soleras system.
The Pedro Ximénez grape is the star of the D.O. Montilla-Moriles. For the production of this red wine, the Pedro Ximénez clusters are spread out on a mat under the sun to slowly dry; this way a naturally sweet wine is obtained.
Founded in 1729, Alvear is one of the oldest wineries in Spain. The winery has maintained its family character throughout its history and is currently run by the eighth generation of the Alvear family. Alvear's prestige extends beyond our borders, especially after achieving the highest rating for one of its wines from the American critic Robert Parker, who awarded the coveted 100 points to Alvear PX 2011. A true milestone.
