22 Pies Crianza 2022 is a wine crafted as a tribute to Spanish picaresque literature, a genre filled with ingenious satirical tales in which wine and winemaking tradition are often represented. One of these tales is illustrated on the label of this Rioja red wine, where we see the transport of one of tavern keeper Durán's finest bottles by 11 tiny lovers of wine — and of what isn’t theirs. This is a fresh and elegant Rioja, but with a laid-back profile, framed within the Locos del Vino project, whose mission is to introduce the general public to Spain's most important wine regions and their unique characteristics.
Locos del Vino, a winery integrated into the Torres Group, presents 22 Pies Crianza 2022, a red wine made entirely from a selection of the best grapes of the leading variety in Rioja, the tempranillo. It is crafted from fruits sourced from two sub-regions: the grapes cultivated in Rioja Alta provide the wine with good acidity and great aging potential, while those from Rioja Alavesa, a terroir with cooler nighttime temperatures, contribute freshness. The result is a cheerful red wine, with a fresh style and full of elegance, faithfully expressing the different Rioja terroirs.
Locos del Vino is a project with the main goal of bringing many wines from Spain’s most characteristic winemaking regions to a wider audience. Responsible for some of the country’s most promising wines, crafted under ecological principles and with international aspirations, Locos del Vino aims to showcase the outstanding quality of Spain’s national products—wines that reflect their origin and tell a story.
This magnificent red wine from the D.O.Ca. Rioja was harvested manually. Once at the winery, it underwent maceration for 15 days in stainless steel tanks, where fermentation also took place. Subsequently, the wine aged for 12 months in French and American oak barrels, followed by an additional year of bottle aging under controlled temperature and humidity conditions. The result is a great red wine with aromas of red fruits and delicate toasted notes, standing out for its freshness and fine acidity.
22 Pies Crianza 2022 pairs perfectly with new trends in avant-garde cuisine, all kinds of tapas made with fresh ingredients, oily fish, and cheeses.

Tasting notes
Cherry red color with good depth.
On the nose, it stands out for its intensity and fine aromas of red fruits, over a background of elegant toasted and spicy notes from its barrel aging.
On the palate, it is fresh, a result of its balance of acids, and elegant and refined due to the maturity of its tannins. It has a long and persistent finish.
