Fourth vintage of the organic wine from the creators of Tinto Pesquera. 20 Aldeas 2021 is born in the riverside ‘château’ of the Fernández Rivera Family, at the Condado de Haza winery. A 100% tempranillo red wine showcasing great expressiveness, elegance, and complexity of the grape, resulting from organic fieldwork. A novelty in this 2021 vintage is the wine's aging process, which took place for 12 months in large 5,000-liter French oak foudres, replacing the traditional American oak. This choice provides a more subtle integration of the wood, preserving the wine's fruity intensity.

With 200 hectares of vineyards on a single estate, Condado de Haza stands as the largest ‘château’ in Ribera del Duero. A winery that has gained international fame; for example, the American magazine ‘Wine Spectator’ named Condado de Haza in 2016 as the best Ribera del Duero in its ‘Top 100’ list. Now comes the fourth vintage of its organic wine: 20 Aldeas 2021, 100% tempranillo. A modern, elegant red wine that remains true to its terroir, in this case with its purest expression guaranteed by organic farming.
It is sourced from 15 hectares of vineyards located on slopes in the areas of Roa and La Horra, in the most sought-after part of the Burgos Ribera del Duero. The vines take root at over 750 meters above sea level with north and south-facing orientations, in shallow and heterogeneous soils predominantly composed of clay with sand presence.
It is traditionally crafted, with destemming and spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks. It ages for 12 months in French oak foudres of 5000 liters and finally rests for a period in the bottle before being released to the market.
Owned by the Fernández Rivera family, Condado de Haza celebrates a quarter of a century as one of the most emblematic wineries of Ribera del Duero. Located in the area of Roa, on the banks of the Duero, it is designed in the image of a Bordeaux ‘château,’ with the vineyards surrounding the facilities. The estate, cultivated with nearly 200 hectares of tempranillo, stretches across a hillside of poor soils with perfect southern orientation. Its wines enjoy well-deserved fame.
20 Aldeas 2021 (V.T. Castilla y León) is the ideal choice to pair with lamb chops grilled over vine shoots or a charcoal-grilled beef ribeye steak.
APPEARANCE. Clean and bright wine with a red color and purple rim.
NOSE. Intense aroma of black fruit such as blackberry. Subtle spicy hints appear, blending with the licorice characteristic of the Tempranillo variety. Followed by roasted notes, vanilla, and light smoky nuances from aging in fudre.
PALATE. Creamy entry wine, with a balance between round tannins and acidity that fills the mouth, leaving a memory of spices and licorice.
Condado de Haza is the second winery of the Familia Fernández Rivera in Ribera del Duero. Following the success of the parent winery (Tinto Pesquera), this family decided to expand its legacy. They found the ideal location on a hillside with poor soils and perfect orientation along the banks of the Duero River, in the municipality of Roa (Burgos), where the first vines were planted in 1987. On the same estate stands the winery, inspired by French ‘châteaux,’ with a structure designed by carving into a hill. Additionally, it features an underground bottle cellar where the wines rest in perfect conditions.
In 2008, the international prestige of the winery took a significant leap when Condado de Haza Crianza was included by Wine Spectator magazine among the 100 best wines in the world. Today, the winery has 200 hectares of vineyards, all of the tempranillo variety, the signature grape of the Familia Fernández Rivera. Its wines are made exclusively from estate-grown grapes. It produces the brands Condado de Haza Crianza, Condado de Haza Reserva Especial, and Alenza. These are red wines with long aging in oak, earning acclaim from both national and international critics.
