Viñedos Sierra Cantabria

Viñedos Sierra Cantabria
Six wineries and a catalog of brands that play in the top league of international wine are behind Grupo Sierra Cantabria, a family-owned company based in Rioja and led by brothers Miguel Ángel (president) and Marcos Eguren (winemaker). They represent the fourth generation of a lineage of Rioja winemakers: Amancio, born in 1870, was the family's first winemaker, followed by Victorino and Guillermo, the father of Miguel Ángel and Marcos. Both brothers began their journey toward high-quality winemaking in the family winery, Sierra Cantabria (1957), located in San Vicente de la Sonsierra (Rioja Alta).

Later, they launched a series of key projects during the revolution that shook Rioja wine in the 1990s. Viñedos Sierra Cantabria (2005) is a brand conceived as a division of the original winery to focus on single vineyard wines. It produces its range of wines from exceptional tempranillo vineyards (35 hectares with an average age of 38 years) located in the Sonsierra area, where environmentally respectful viticulture is practiced. Here, an enviable range of wines is crafted: the red wines Sierra Cantabria Cuvée, Colección Privada, Finca El Bosque, Amancio, and the white Sierra Cantabria Organza.
