Founded in 1932 by Pierre-Charles Taittinger, the winery has remained in the hands of the same family, now reaching great-granddaughter Vitalie Taittinger, the fourth generation. The estate of the Forest-Fourneaux House was the origin of its wines, but over time this lineage has expanded its vineyards to the 290 hectares it currently owns, a true privilege. Taittinger boasts five vineyards classified as grand cru in the heart of the Côte des Blancs: Cramant, Avize, Chouilly, Oger, and Mesnil-sur-Oger. Additionally, it owns other vineyards located in the most prestigious areas of the appellation.
One of the main hallmarks of the winery is that the white grape chardonnay is part of all the blends of its wines. The winery is also distinguished by its underground cellars, which stretch for kilometers and were built centuries ago by the monks of the Abbey of Saint Nicaise in Reims. Here, the wines are harmonized under the best conditions before being released to the market. Since 2015, these cellars and the winery have been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
