Roberto Voerzio founded in 1986 one of the wineries that would become a benchmark throughout Italy. As a producer, he is highly recognized and well-regarded thanks to his work with the nebbiolo variety, showcasing a style that is very distinct from the usual in the region. His vineyard yields are very low but of superior quality. With this, he has managed to produce exceptional wines that have earned the winery recognition from specialized critics and wine lovers alike.
Roberto Voerzio is the owner, winemaker, and viticulturist of his own winery. He crafts his wines with a clear objective: the pursuit of maximum quality while respecting the natural environment and surroundings.
The winery boasts an extensive number of vineyards located in La Morra, in the best plots of Barolo such as La Serra, Cerequio, Sarmassa, Rocche dell'Annunziata, and Fossati. It also has vineyards within the Barbera d'Alba Denomination of Origin. These vineyards produce high-quality grapes of the varieties Dolcetto, Barbera, Nebbiolo, and Merlot.
The winery stands out for its vinification in stainless steel tanks, separating by plots. The wines are aged in new oak barrels and rest for one or two more months in tanks. They are usually bottled to refine the wine for an additional 10 months in the winery. In this regard, Roberto Voerzio's Barolo wines reach their optimal moment at 6-8 years, and in great vintages, from 10 to 12 years onwards.
For Roberto Voerzio, “my wines are always an expression of the terroir and perfectly tell me about each vintage with its nuances, the climatic conditions of the seasons.”
The wines of the Roberto Voerzio winery are classified under the DOCG Barolo, the DOC Barbera d'Alba, and the DOC Dolcetto d'Alba.
