Linked to film production, Iñaki Núñez shifted his professional activity in 1999 and founded the Pago de Cirsus winery in Ablitas, in the south of Navarra. Soon, the vineyard of Pago de Cirsus was recognized for its quality as a Vino de Pago, under the name Finca Bolandín, while the winery's wines garnered more than 70 gold medals in the most important competitions worldwide. After leaving Pago de Cirsus, Iñaki Núñez embarked on a new project in 2016: Pago de Los Olivos, a winery designed to produce top-level wines in different regions, such as Ribera del Duero, where he owns old vineyards in Valbuena de Duero, the most famous area of the denomination; and Navarra.
His philosophy focuses on highlighting small, old plots located in very different areas and transforming them into wines that express the unique characteristics of each ‘terroir’. “Like tailors perfecting a suit by shaping it according to the character of the wearer, we seek for each wine to have its own personality and to offer the consumer the true expression of our vineyards,” explains Iñaki Núñez. In the D.O. Navarra, he produces two new wines under the guidance of Italian winemaker Nicola Tucci: Iñaki Núñez Selección Privada and the red Iñaki Núñez Vendimia Seleccionada, created from very old graciano and garnacha vineyards located in Cintruénigo and Murchante.
