Opus One Winery

Opus One is the most prestigious winery in the United States. Founded in 1979 jointly by Robert Mondavi (a visionary and brilliant winemaker responsible for putting California on the global wine map) and Baron Philippe de Rothschild, from one of Europe's great wine families: the Rothschilds. A winery born as a fusion of the New World and Europe, located in the famous Napa Valley, the heart of Californian wine.

Opus Wine benefits from the most modern viticulture techniques. Its 68 hectares of vineyards have a planting density 5 to 6 times higher than the traditional standard in California, achieving clusters with small berries that have intense flavors and aromas.

The winery produces a single wine: Opus Wine, recognized among the best in the world. The harvest is carried out manually, and the clusters are transported in small 16 kg boxes to ensure they arrive in optimal condition. Once at the winery, the grapes are selected by hand. During production, gravity is used for the movement of musts and wines (avoiding pumps); and for aging, new French oak barrels are employed.
