After discovering the wines of Sonoma Valley, in the westernmost part of California, Steve Kistler bet on the climate and the marine soils and subsoils as the ideal conditions for cultivating the pinot noir variety, achieving distinctive wines with a Burgundian character.
Thus, in 2011 he founded Occidental, dedicated to the production of pinot noir wines recognized internationally for their extraordinary characteristics.
Currently, Occidental cultivates 85 acres of vineyards in the Freestone-Occidental area. With an exceptional team, knowledgeable about the land and with extensive experience at Kistler Vineyards, the fieldwork is carried out with great skill on the terraces and ridges located around the winery.
