José Benavides Jiménez Landi has been fully dedicated to the family winery Jiménez-Landi (D.O. Méntrida) since 2004. As director and winemaker, he soon received international recognition. The high scores awarded by the guru Robert Parker led this small winery with limited productions to succeed abroad before gaining recognition within our own country.
In the Méntrida area, he has a syrah vineyard that gives life to his red wine Sotorrondero (Bodegas Jiménez Landi). In the 2015 vintage, José Benavides' experimental vocation led him to consider creating a special wine with a selection of grapes from this vineyard, applying an unprecedented method: making the syrah with stems and in 3,000-kilo wooden vats (his syrah productions were always made by destemming and in stainless steel tanks). The result was exceptional: it was a wine that had to be known. This is how Candela was born, a wine made at the Jiménez Landi winery but marketed under the umbrella of a new project: Never Enough, created by José Benavides and his friend Nacho Herrero.
