Michelini i Mufatto & González

Michelini i Mufatto & González is the project in Bierzo that has brought together, since 2015, renowned Argentine winemakers Gerardo Michelini and Andrea Mufatto with local viticulturist Javier González. It was the great Raúl Pérez who introduced the couple from Mendoza to the region and some of its promising old vineyards. Convinced of its potential, they settled in the area, partnering with Javier González, a friend of Pérez. In 2016, the winery began its journey with the first vintage of the red wine Mundo Zeppeling.

The winery is located in Toral de Merayo. In this hamlet of Ponferrada and in nearby areas such as Ozuela, the 8 hectares of vineyards are distributed, primarily on slate soil slopes. The mencía grape dominates the cultivation and is vinified in a style very close to the one that has made Raúl Pérez famous, starting with respectful viticulture, early harvests, using whole clusters, and opting for long macerations. This philosophy translates into flavorful, fresh wines with fruit and great drinkability. Pure Bierzo.
