Oriol Illa and Susana Pastor are two young winemakers who created their personal project in 2012 under the name Màquina & Tabla. It is a unique and singular venture that focuses on producing a selection of wines from the oldest and most exceptional vineyards in Castilla y León.
This project can be found in Los Ancares (Bierzo), continuing in Rueda, Ribera del Duero, and Toro. It is a journey through the finest vineyards of Castilla, where working the land respectfully is essential.
The main goal of Màquina & Tabla is to craft those traditional and exceptional wines that were once customary in this region. These wines are dedicated to the generations of the past, who worked the land so hard and with such wisdom.
Most of the winery's estates are plots recovered from winemakers who were distant from modernization and technological advances in the sector, using a traditional cultivation system.
All the vineyards are over 60 years old, with very low yields. This aligns with Oriol and Susana's working philosophy, as they strive for maximum purity and delicacy in production, vinification, and aging. In general, these are honest wines full of emotion, vibrant and expressive, aiming to give back part of the richness found in their grapes.
