Hacienda Solano

Hacienda Solano is a family winery committed to artisanal winemaking. The winery, founded in 2001 by the Cubillo siblings, is based in La Aguilera, a historic town in the D.O. Ribera del Duero in Burgos.

The Cubillo siblings' vineyard, inherited from their ancestors, spans 10 hectares and is located at nearly 1000 meters above sea level. The tinto fino or tempranillo vines, cultivated without the use of herbicides or chemicals, are at least 15 years old, although the winery also boasts a significant number of old vines, some of which are pre-phylloxera.

Respect for the terroir and the vine is precisely the starting point of their winemaking, which, in the winery, is characterized by absolute precision in vinification. In 2006, Alsatian winemaker Sophie Kuhn joined Hacienda Solano as the technical director. Her meticulous and brilliant work, reinforced since the 2016 harvest with the advice of Toni Sarrión (Bodegas Mustiguillo), has elevated the family winery to another level.

From its modest facilities, aligned with the philosophy of garage wines, come limited-production reds such as Finca Cascorrales and Finca Peña Lobera. These are two of their top creations that have achieved outstanding scores in prestigious publications like Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate and are now marketed in diverse countries such as Switzerland, Germany, Denmark, France, Austria, Canada, the United States, and the Dominican Republic.
