Freixenet

Freixenet

The origins of Freixenet, a family-owned company and leader in its sector, date back to 1861, when Francesc Sala Ferrés founded Casa Sala, a pioneering brand in wine exportation in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia. However, it was not until 1914 that the company began bottling its first cavas.

From the 1940s onwards, Freixenet truly took off, becoming one of the most renowned Spanish wineries worldwide. In 1941, it launched the iconic Carta Nevada for the first time, followed by Cordón Negro in 1974, which is now present in more than 140 countries. Currently, the Freixenet Group operates 19 wineries across Spain (in the DOs Cava, Penedès, Rías Baixas, Ribera del Duero, Priorat, Montsant, and Rioja), France (Bordeaux and Champagne), Australia, Argentina, the United States, and Mexico, producing over 130 million bottles in Spain. A winery that also stands out as a model of internationalization: 80% of its production is destined for the international market.
