Charismatic, brilliant, and inimitable. That is Miguel Ángel de Gregorio, the ‘enfant terrible’ who, in the nineties, led an entire generation of young winemakers determined to reinterpret the Rioja classics starting from the most fundamental base: the land and the vine. In 1986, he arrived in Briones (La Rioja) and discovered the unique terroir he had always dreamed of to launch his personal project: Finca Allende. He began purchasing small plots of old vineyards and trying to know and understand each parcel.
Little by little, he found his style, based on the “expressiveness of the terroir”; a model of very structured wines with marked tannins, many mineral aromas (which the Briones terroir provided), and in this same vein, Finca Allende has continued over the years. In 1995, Miguel Ángel de Gregorio crafted the first Allende. Then came Aurus, Calvario… Wines that seek the expressiveness of each plot, the uniqueness of each parcel, and that occupy the highest ranks of the Rioja podium.
