Ferreira

Built on an ancient convent, Ferreira is one of the most beautiful wineries in Oporto. Located in the iconic town of Vila Nova de Gaia, the old winery building reflects its long winemaking history. Ferreira, which became famous in the last century after being acquired in 1751 by Mrs. Ferreira, known as the "Queen of the Douro," now belongs to the Sogrape group. It remains one of the benchmark wineries for quality in the production of Port and Douro wines. Ferreira possibly houses what is considered the best collection of Port wines from the 19th and 20th centuries in its cellars, with the oldest vintage dating back to 1815. Every year, the winery awards the "Dona Antónia" prize (created in 1988 by Mrs. Ferreira's descendants) to a Portuguese woman who has stood out for her entrepreneurial spirit, just as the "Queen of the Douro" did when she founded the winery.
