Fedellos do Couto

In record time, Fedellos do Couto has become one of the most promising wineries on the Galician wine scene. Founded in 2013 in the Ourense municipality of Castro Caldelas, in Ribeira Sacra, the winery is the result of the passion of Luis Taboada, Pablo Soldavini, Jesús Olivares, and Curro Bareño, four friends who, without their own facilities at the time or grand ambitions, set out to create the wines they themselves enjoyed drinking.
< br> In 2017, with only four vintages on the market, one of their wines, Cortezada, made the cover of the prestigious Decanter magazine, as part of a selection of the best 25 red wines to enjoy in summer. This recognition put the winery on the map and has made their creations, with limited production, highly anticipated and sold out as soon as they are released, in the blink of an eye.
< br> The secret to the success of Fedellos do Couto lies in a small vineyard (they manage 4 hectares, 2 of which are owned), located near the Sil and Bibei rivers, planted with various native varieties, benefiting from diverse microclimates, soil compositions, altitudes, and exposures, and cultivated following the principles of biodynamic and organic farming. This environmentally respectful viticulture, combined with minimal enological intervention in the winery, results in authentic and unique wines, a faithful expression of the variety from which they are made and their terroir of origin.
