Fourth generation of a family of winegrowers from Laguardia, at just 25 years old, Carlos San Pedro put all his viticultural and oenological expertise into his personal project: Bodegas y Viñedos Pujanza (1998). A winery that, using unique vineyards, has created Riojas applauded by critics and the public alike.
After the success of Pujanza, Carlos San Pedro conceived the idea of founding a second winery in Laguardia: Diosares; supported by the same team, but seeking a different wine style: younger, fresher, and more accessible.
A great connoisseur of the vineyards of Rioja Alavesa, San Pedro selected the most suitable vines to craft the desired wine profile: vineyards located in the Laguardia area at a minimum altitude of 500 m, over clay-limestone and cool soils that, together with the thermal differences between day and night, delay ripening and favor the production of aromatic, fruity wines with good acidity. Currently, Diosares produces a single-varietal white made from Viura and the red wines Ares Crianza and Ares Reserva, both made from Tempranillo and with very good ratings since their release on the market (90 Parker points for the 2009 vintage).
