Dehesa de Los Canónigos

Toribio Lecanda, founder of the legendary winery Vega Sicilia, was the one who purchased the Dehesa de los Canónigos more than 160 years ago, building the house -in the style of a Basque farmhouse- where the current owners, the Sanz Cid family, live. His grandfather, Teodosio Lecanda, constructed the buildings where the winery's wines now rest.

In 1931, the estate was acquired by Idelfonso Cid and Vicenta Sánchez, grandparents of Mª Luz Cid, the current owner of the winery along with her husband, Luis Sanz Busto, who in 1989 decided to launch the first vintage of Dehesa de los Canónigos onto the market. Today, Belén (oenologist) and Iván Sanz Cid (managing director), two of the four children of Luis and Mª Luz, are the ones who continue the family legacy.

Since its foundation, the prestige of the winery has only grown, to the point of being one of the most highly regarded Ribera del Duero wineries both within and beyond our borders.
