Cuatro Pasos

Cuatro Pasos is the result of an exhaustive investigation carried out by the winery group Martín Códax with the aim of promoting the production of quality wines from the mencía variety, a grape that, due to its immense potential and varietal richness, has progressively gained importance within the sector in recent years.

After months of exploration and analysis of the terrain across different locations, the technical team of the Galician-origin firm concluded that, due to the characteristics of the climate and soil, El Bierzo was the ideal location to develop the project, even more so upon discovering magnificent old vineyards planted in the vicinity: century-old mencía vines, located in high mountain areas, with excellent potential for producing outstanding wines. It was precisely in these vineyards that the winery found bear tracks, which served as inspiration for the name and also led to a commitment to this endangered animal and its protection.
