Compañía de Vinos Tricó is a small winery founded in 2007 by José Antonio López, who was also the founder of Morgadío and Lusco do Miño, two of the most significant names in the D.O. Rías Baixas. The name Tricó is used in some parts of Galicia to refer to late-born, unexpected children who, because of this, are cherished and pampered more than the others.
The philosophy of the winery focuses on ensuring that their albariños faithfully represent the character of the land they come from and also have aging potential.
In February 2024, the company Alma Carraovejas acquired the winery from José Antonio López and appointed winemaker Laura Montero to lead the wine design. However, a few months later, the deal was canceled, and the winery returned to its founder.
