Château Lascombes

With its 112 hectares of vineyard, Château Lascombes is one of the largest estates in the A.O.C Margaux, a wine region belonging to the Médoc. Classified as a Second Grand Cru Classé in the Official Bordeaux Wine Classification of 1855, the estate traces its origins back to the 17th century, when Antoine Lascombes acquired the property, giving it the name that has endured to this day. The château remained in his family’s hands until after the French Revolution. Today, the estate is owned by the insurance group MACSF.

Located northwest of Margaux, near the châteaux Labégorce, Perrière, and La Gurgue, the vastness of Château Lascombes' vineyard allows it to benefit from a wide variety of soils, which directly contributes to the richness of its wines. The vines are distributed across three distinct areas: a gravel mound, where cabernet sauvignon and petit verdot are planted; a plot with gravel and clay soils planted with merlot and also cabernet sauvignon; and finally, a clay and limestone terrain exclusively for merlot.

The significant presence of merlot, which occupies almost 50% of the estate's surface, is precisely one of the characteristics that sets it apart from other estates in Médoc.
