Champagne Salon

The utmost exclusivity is the hallmark of Champagne Salon. Eugène Aimé Salon, a great champagne enthusiast, founded this small winery in 1911 in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, a Grand Cru nestled in the heart of the Côte des Blancs, with a single purpose: to create, for his own enjoyment and consumption, the sparkling wine of his dreams, a blanc de blancs, born from a single grape and a single cru.

This remained the case until the early 1920s, when Champagne Salon opened up to the rest of the world. Since then, the winery has shared its select champagne, whose origin lies in the so-called “Jardin Salon,” its proprietary chardonnay vineyard spanning just one hectare, and in grapes supplied by 19 other growers from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, sourced from vines aged between 25 and 40 years.

Upon the death of Eugène Aimé Salon in 1943, the maison passed into the hands of his great-nephew, until 1988, when the Laurent-Perrier group formalized its purchase, along with its sister winery, Champagne Delamotte. Despite its integration into this significant corporate group, Champagne Salon has retained all the essence that made it synonymous with excellence. In fact, the brand’s blanc de blancs, which ages in the cellars for a minimum of 10 years, is only produced in exceptional years (approximately four vintages per decade), and when the harvest is not used for its production, it is either allocated to Champagne Delamotte or sold.
