Champagne Gremillet is a family-owned winery founded in 1979, now managed by the second generation: siblings Anna and Jean Christophe Gremillet. The estate is located in Balnot sur Laignes, a village in the Champagne-Ardenne region, 45 km from Troyes, the historical capital of Champagne. From its inception, it has focused on producing champagne for the export market, and more specifically, for the diplomatic network. Today, fifty embassies and consulates worldwide choose Gremillet for their receptions. It produces nearly 500,000 bottles annually of highly regarded champagnes with growing demand.
The Gremillet family has chosen Machado's verse “Traveler, there is no path, the path is made by walking” to reflect their values: constant effort, determination, and passion. Today, they own 48 hectares of vineyards planted in an area called Côte des Bars. This is an exceptional terroir for pinot noir, which accounts for 85% of the vineyards and thrives in chalky soils interspersed with clay marls on steep, sun-drenched slopes that reveal the full power and fruitiness of this variety. The remaining 15% is planted with chardonnay, a white grape that brings finesse and freshness. They also source grapes from other growers, primarily chardonnay from Montgueux, Cramant, or Béthon, areas with soils well-suited to this variety.
Gremillet harvests approximately 4,000 kilos of grapes annually, yielding 2,050 liters of must from the first pressing. Their champagnes are made exclusively from this first pressing, the finest quality. Jean Christophe Gremillet serves as cellar master, responsible for the subtle art of blending: combining wines from different grape varieties, terroirs, and vintages, always with the mission of maintaining the house style year after year. The champagnes of this house are characterized by aging times that exceed regulatory requirements: they rest on their lees for a minimum of 22 months, and up to 5 years in the case of 'vintages.'
