The Xavier Clua winery (2017) is named after its founder, the fourth generation of a family of winegrowers and producers, and is characterized by its focus on sustainable viticulture and its commitment to quality. It only produces wine from its 24 hectares of own vineyards and maintains a limited production of 90,000 bottles, allowing for a meticulous selection of the grapes grown on its estates. It is located in Vilalba dels Arcs, one of the twelve municipalities that make up Terra Alta, and inaugurated new facilities in 2006, although the aging of the wines continues to take place in the cellar of the previous winery, located in the town center.
The cierzo and garbí winds help achieve healthy vines. Its vineyards are worked using the trellis system, thus increasing the sun exposure of the grapes, and they are mainly planted with the varieties garnacha blanca, garnacha tinta, and garnacha peluda.
The D.O. Terra Alta (Tarragona) is located in the south of Catalonia, between the Ebro River and the border with Aragón. A territory with a winemaking tradition dating back to the Middle Ages, with a complex topography, surrounded by various mountains and crossed by small valleys. It is characterized by its high-altitude vineyards located on natural terraces over limestone soils, conditions that give personality to its wines. The vineyards are cultivated under dry farming conditions.
