Celler Batea

The red garnacha and white garnacha –varieties with centuries of adaptation in Terra Alta- form the core of the vineyards of Celler Batea. Additionally, the winery cultivates other varieties to complement and bring complexity to their wines: cariñena, tempranillo, and small percentages of syrah, cabernet sauvignon, merlot, macabeo, and chardonnay. In total, 250 hectares with yields below 6,000 kg/ha, where old bush vines are mixed with trellised vines.

Vineyards that grow in a region with a mixed climate featuring continental and Mediterranean traits. The Cierzo, a dry northern wind, naturally promotes the health of the vineyards; and the Garbí breeze brings freshness and humidity from the Mediterranean Sea during summer days, benefiting more balanced grapes with good aromatic potential. Regarding the soils, they are clay-limestone, low in fertility, and not very deep, characteristics that naturally help control the vigor of the plant.
