Castillo de Sajazarra

Castillo de Sajazarra
At the end of the 1960s, the Líbano family acquired the castle of Sajazarra, located in the village of the same name. Upon inspecting the dungeons, they found various very old elements related to wine, such as wine presses, crushers, and oak vats. As expected, they began producing wine within the castle, with such great success that they decided to market it. Thus, in 1973, they built a new winery: Castillo de Sajazarra, located in the gardens of the fortress, turning their project into one of the most important wineries in La Rioja Alta.

Sajazarra is located very close to Haro, in the highest part of the Rioja Alta subzone. Around the castle and within a radius of less than three kilometers, the winery cultivates 49 hectares of vineyards, mostly tempranillo, with the rest being graciano, garnacha, and viura.
