Casa Botran

Casa Botran is one of the most important rum producers in Guatemala. Founded in Quetzaltenango in 1940 by the Burgos-born brothers Felipe, Venancio, Jesús, Andrés, and Alejandro Botran, the company currently belongs to Industrias Licoreras de Guatemala, a giant that distributes other renowned brands such as Zacapa.

The Botran brothers implemented European traditions in the production of their aged rums, such as aging through the sistema de soleras in American oak barrels that previously held Sherry, Port, or whiskey. This uniqueness is complemented by two other factors that make their rums truly exceptional. The first is the exclusive use of jugo de caña concentrado, obtained from the first pressing of sugarcane, instead of molasses, which is used to produce 97% of the world's rums. The second is their aging at an altitude of over 2,300 meters above sea level in the mountains of Quetzaltenango, which imparts greater elegance and complexity to their aromas.
