Bodegas Torinos

In 2004, José Luis Torinos, a retired builder, decided to revive the tradition inherited from his father and began producing wines in the lands of Tudela de Duero, in Valladolid, a municipality with an extensive winemaking tradition but where currently only five wineries operate. Torinos brings to market a small production of 50,000 bottles annually of a red wine well-aged in French and American oak, under the designation of Vino de la Tierra de Castilla y León, which grants the winemaker creative freedom to decide on the methods and timing of production and aging. The vineyard, with vines up to 80 years old, located in Valdearados in the province of Burgos, is planted with Malbec and Tempranillo. The first vintage, 2003, was produced in external facilities until the current winery building was constructed in 2004. The 2005 vintage was selected by the Vatican to be served to none other than Benedict XVI. A feat that is now highlighted on its label.
