Quinta de Aves (1990), the winery of the Casado family, focuses on the production of single-estate wines. The entire production process takes place on the estate that gives the winery its name: Quinta de Aves, located in Campo de Calatrava (Ciudad Real), at an altitude of 700 m, where volcanic-origin soils provide the wines with a very special character.
Selection criteria in the field and winery, combining technology and tradition, and a special interest in interpreting the complexity of the soils of the estate form the pillars of their philosophy. Additionally, the Casado family has surrounded themselves with the best experts: they are advised by José Ramón Lisarrague, a viticulture expert, while the technical direction is led by Pablo Ossorio, an internationally renowned enologist.
The estate Quinta de Aves spans 500 hectares, 75 of which are dedicated to vineyards, and hosts plantations of native grape varieties such as tempranillo or moscatel, as well as international varieties like syrah, cabernet franc, chardonnay, or sauvignon blanc. Particularly noteworthy are their tempranillo vines (known as cencibel in the region), over 50 years old and cultivated as bush vines under dry farming conditions. Quinta de Aves produces 550,000 bottles annually, half of which are destined for the international market, primarily in Europe.
