Bodegas López Cristóbal

Founded by Santiago López in 1994 in the heart of D.O. Ribera del Duero, López Cristóbal manages 50 hectares of its own vineyard with a rich and heterogeneous composition of soils that add complexity to its wines. In the incomparable setting of Roa de Duero, at the very heart of Ribera del Duero, this family winery applies the latest technological advances to ensure the highest quality in even the smallest detail. In 1994, Santiago López fulfilled his desire to create his own winery. Back in the 1930s, his father arrived in this region from Santander and established a farm where today his son has decided to locate the winery. Bodegas López Cristóbal is the result of the union of two surnames (López from Santiago and Cristóbal from Lola, his wife). The latest addition, their son Galo, has brought definitive consolidation and contributed to giving the winery's wines a very personal character. The 50 hectares of owned vineyards are divided into 9 well-differentiated plots. The predominant variety is Tinta del País, which extends over 45 hectares, complemented by Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and the white Albillo. The diversity and heterogeneity of the soils on which the vines are planted impart very distinctive characteristics to the fruits from each plot, allowing for the creation of complex and surprising wines.
