Basagoiti is the most personal signature of Ramón Raventós Basagoiti, currently leading the illustrious Raventós lineage, with centuries of winemaking tradition. Ramón founded Basagoiti (named in honor of his maternal surname) in 2007 in the Navarre area of the D.O.Ca. Rioja, with the intention of creating wines that express joy and warmth: “We need liveliness in the fruit, it is part of our character,” says Ramón Raventós, a lover of wines with maximum fruit presence. To achieve this, Basagoiti focuses on lowering yields to seek expression, ripeness, concentration, and subtlety.
The vineyards, protected from the winds by the hills surrounding the Ebro valleys, have an average age of 20 to 25 years. Another key aspect of Basagoiti's philosophy is adding garnacha grapes from the Calahorra area to the tempranillo blend, which brings ripeness and a sweet character, without excluding the contribution of other local varieties such as graciano or mazuelo. Their wines are the result of meticulous and delicate viticulture work. In short, classic wines with great body and alcohol content.
