The Romaila winery is located in a spectacular natural setting in Almonacid de Toledo (Toledo); on a historic estate with 26 hectares of vineyards designed by the prestigious viticulture professor José Ramón Lissarrague and planted around the winery, in the purest 'château' style, with the varieties cabernet sauvignon, tempranillo, syrah, petit verdot, and graciano.
The winegrowing tradition of Finca Romaila dates back to the 18th century. In fact, the estate is already registered as a property dedicated to vine cultivation in the 1752 land registry of the Marqués de la Ensenada. Today, more than 250 years later, the couple Nacho Mateos and Natalia Álvarez have transformed this estate into a small family winery where they craft exclusive limited-edition wines from their magnificent 26-hectare vineyard.
The facilities of the Romaila winery were restored by architect Rafael Manzano (Richard H. Driehaus Prize 2010) and retain the appearance of the old family estate; while its interior is equipped with the most advanced technology to produce wines that respect the character of the terroir.
