Ausàs Bodegas y Viñedos is the new project in Ribera del Duero by Xavier Ausàs, who was the technical director of the Vega Sicilia Group for 17 years and previously assistant winemaker and deputy to Mariano García from 1990 to 1997. His extensive knowledge of the region and his friendship with trusted winegrowers led him in 2016 to produce the first vintage of a winery focused on the pursuit of aromatic purity, freshness, and elegance.
Xavier Ausàs' interpretation of the Ribera del Duero revolves around Tempranillo cultivated in some of the most emblematic villages of the D.O. Ausàs Bodegas y Viñedos produces its wines from selected grapes grown in the Burgos municipalities of Moradillo de Roa, Nava de Roa, Gumiel de Mercado, and La Horra. A variety of terroirs and altitudes, from gravelly soils at 900 meters above sea level that provide freshness, to clays and limestones that deliver elegance, concentration, and power, make their wines one of the new phenomena of today's Ribera.
