Bodega Aleanna (Enemigo Wines) is a gem of Mendoza, combining tradition, innovation and philosophy in every bottle. With high-altitude vineyards in Gualtallary and a low-intervention winemaking approach, its El Enemigo wines have conquered the world with character and elegance.
Founded in 2009, Bodega Aleanna is the result of the partnership between Adrianna Catena, historian and daughter of Nicolás Catena Zapata, and Alejandro Vigil, chief winemaker at Catena Zapata. Inspired by literature, philosophy and the desire to break boundaries, they created the El Enemigo range, which quickly became a benchmark of Argentine winemaking.
The winery owns 12 hectares of vineyards in Gualtallary, a subregion of the Uco Valley in Mendoza, located 1,470 metres above sea level. The soils are calcareous, rocky and deep – ideal for varieties such as Cabernet Franc and Malbec.
Gualtallary’s climate is a high-altitude continental climate with cold winters, warm summers and a marked diurnal range. Its dry, cool conditions favour healthy grapes and concentrated aromas.
Bodega Aleanna works with a wide range of grape varieties:
The winery features small-scale winemaking facilities focused on quality and experimentation. Casa Vigil, inspired by Dante’s Divine Comedy, stands out as a wine tourism and gastronomic space offering a unique sensory experience.
Aleanna follows a philosophy of minimal intervention: wild-yeast fermentations, the use of century-old oak foudres, ageing under flor for certain whites (such as Chardonnay), semi-carbonic macerations and parcel-based vinification.
