Aalto Bodegas y Viñedos was the project initiated in 1998 by the winemaker Mariano García Bodegas Mauro- and Javier Zaccagnini former collaborator of Vinoselección-, the latter after completing his tenure as Technical Director of the Regulatory Council of the Ribera del Duero Denomination of Origin. Subsequently, the Masaveu families (Fillaboa, Murúa, Pagos de Aráiz) and Nozaleda (Enate) acquired 80% of the shares in equal parts.
Aalto owns 42 hectares of vineyards some vines are over 60 years old- in various municipalities of Valladolid and Burgos. From the beginning, their goal was to produce wines of the highest quality using tempranillo grapes cultivated in very specific terroirs. The winery offers two labels: Aalto and Aalto PS (Pagos Seleccionados), which is only produced when the vintage is Excellent.
