It is one of the nine Vinos de Pago appellations that exist in Spain, three of which are located in Navarra (the other six are in Castilla-La Mancha). The Vinos de Pago distinction recognizes that each estate complies with the requirements established in the decree of the autonomous community that has endorsed it. The wineries and their crops attain the category of DO of Recognized Quality Wines Produced in a Specific Wine Estate. The requirements set by the public administration to grant this designation are based on the control of the estate's viticultural and oenological practices, the recognition of the brand, and its renown in both national and international markets. It was established in 2009 and is owned by the Santesteban family.
