The D.O. extends through the southwest of the province of Zamora and the northwest of Salamanca.
Climate
The climate is Mediterranean with Atlantic influence, characterized by dry, warm, and sunny summers, with a solar exposure effect that benefits the inclination of the terrains. Rainfall occurs throughout the vine's vegetative cycle.
Soil
Shallow soils, with a sandy texture and loose stones of granite and quartz, and low organic matter. The soils are well-drained, and the slate in the subsoil acts as a thermal regulator, accumulating heat during the day and releasing it at night, which supports the ripening of the grapes.
