Description of their own wines
The wines from Dão are truly special. In this region, the wines produced are among the best in Portugal. Very balanced and mineral wines, with remarkable aging potential and a very unique personality. The wines from the company Boas Quintas are a portrait of the Dão region.
Professional career
With a solid academic background, Nuno Cancela de Abreu was born into a family that has been producing wine for four generations in the Dão region. He studied Oenology in Portugal at the Instituto Superior de Agronomia in Lisbon and attended a postgraduate program in Viticulture and Oenology at the University of Montpellier. His first professional endeavor took place in the Douro region, where he led the activities of Advid from 1981 to 1987. In 1986, he began his own project in the Dão region, continuing his family’s legacy by planting a new vineyard and launching two brands, Quinta da Fonte do Ouro and Quinta da Giesta. Starting with the 2010 harvest, he focused his energy on this project, which is developed sustainably.
