Description of their own wines
Our Viña Tondonia Tinto Reserva is the ultimate expression of our philosophy. Over 138 years, four generations of our family have devoted themselves to the purpose of creating exceptional wines, masterpieces of craftsmanship and refinement, capable of rivaling the most famous in the world; a vision that the winery's founder, Don Rafael López de Heredia y Landeta, defined in the 19th century as the "Rioja Supremo."
Attempting this is our daily work… And achieving it is the goal that drives us to continue. A wine capable of stirring emotions and inviting one to relive the experience. A wine crafted with patience, with a meticulous selection of the best grapes from our most iconic vineyard: Viña Tondonia.
Professional career
Member of the fourth generation, trained by her father, Pedro López de Heredia, who described himself as a "viñólogo"; and by her grandfather, Rafael López de Heredia, who taught her to taste wines; as well as by the spirit of the founder (her great-grandfather), which remains unchanged at the López de Heredia winery. Currently, Mercedes and her siblings, Julio César and María José, are responsible for preserving the founding philosophy, becoming the guardians of the Rioja wine tradition.

Graduated in Agricultural Technical Engineering from the Polytechnic University of La Rioja. Advanced Degree in Oenology and Viticulture from the Polytechnic University of La Rioja.
