The Masaveu family entered the winemaking sector in 1974, the year they acquired Bodegas Murúa in Elciego (Rioja Alavesa). However, the family had already owned vineyards since the mid-19th century in Castellar del Vallés (Barcelona), their place of origin, where Federico Masaveu Rivell took the first steps that a century later were continued by his descendants.
Over time, Masaveu Bodegas has grown into a thriving winery group with a presence in various denominations of origin. They own their own vineyards and are committed to a philosophy that prioritizes respect for the environment and the unique character of each ‘terroir.’ Currently, the Masaveu family owns Bodegas Murúa (D.O.Ca. Rioja), Fillaboa (D.O. Rías Baixas), Pagos de Aráiz (D.O. Navarra), and Leda Viñas Viejas (Vino de la Tierra de Castilla y León). They also own the Valverán brand, where they produce Asturian cider.
