Professional career
José Antonio Zarzana (Jerez de la Frontera, 1976) left his career in law in 2005 to take over Ximenez-Spínola, the family winery founded by his ancestor Phelipe Antonio Zarzana Spínola, a textile merchant and amateur winemaker. Under his management, the winery has gained recognition for its uniqueness (it is the only winery in the Jerez region that produces all its wines exclusively from the Pedro Ximénez grape), with its own certification, Denominación Varietal Pedro Ximénez de Acreditación Propia, which sets its wines apart from those under the D.O. Jerez-Xérès-Sherry.
