Since 1964, when Claude Lapalu, the youngest of a family of farmers from Villefranche-de-Lauragais, returned to France and met the Delon family, who wished to part with a château in the north of the A.O.C Médoc.

Professional career
Jean-Michel Lapalu, following his father's example, took over the winery in 1992 to develop the commercialization of the wines produced in the various terroirs that Domaines Lapalu currently owns. In total, 230 hectares of vineyards between Médoc and Haut-Médoc.
