Helios Estévez Pérez

Professional career

The Estévez family, originally from Valtuille de Abajo and partially established in Mexico since 1942, always dreamed of returning to their roots and reclaiming the vineyards of El Bierzo that the libertarian, writer, and thinker Antonio Estévez had to abandon during the Spanish Civil War to exile in this American country. These vineyards represented a centuries-old heritage, whose origin dates back to the first vineyards that great-grandfather Ramón bought with the money he earned working in Brazil at the end of the 19th century.

Years later, Helios Estévez, the youngest son of Antonio, now a businessman and poet, emigrated to Mexico to meet his father, where he settled and started a family; but he always longed to return to El Bierzo. Today, Helios's four children have joined the family business.
