Bodegas Riojanas is one of the great centenary wineries of Rioja, founded in 1890 in Cenicero by the Frías and Artacho families. It is one of the best ambassadors of Rioja classicism, and among its wines are such iconic brands as Viña Albina and Monte Real. Over the years, Bodegas Riojanas has incorporated other wineries in different regions, becoming Grupo Bodegas Riojanas. In addition to the main winery, this group includes Veiga Naúm (D.O. Rías Baixas), Torreduero (D.O. Toro), and Viore, which produces wines in various Castilian-Leonese regions.
Bodegas Riojanas continues to be managed by the descendants of the founding families: Frías and Artacho, with the motto “Family, Tradition, and Excellence.” Santiago Frías (pictured) is its president.
